The Funeral Consumers Alliance of Western North Carolina chapter was started by a concerned group of local citizens in the Asheville area. It was called the Blue Ridge Memorial Society, and was incorporated in October, 1978.
In 2001, its name changed to Funeral Consumers Alliance, Inc. In 2012, its became the Funeral Consumers Alliance, Inc., of WNC.
In 2019, FCA of WNC, merged with other regional chapters in the state to become the Funeral Consumers Alliance North Carolina. Some of its board members went on to serve on the board of FCANC.
